Athens - the capital of Greece, full of history and wonders. Explore Athens and its surroundings on this 10 day group tour. You’ll be immersed in sites made famous in Greek mythology, and visit important places from ancient Greek civilization. You’ll visit coastal and mountain towns near Greece, explore one of Greece’s wine regions, and experience the beautiful Hydra Island. You’ll discover the diverse city of Athens and its historical monuments like the imposing Acropolis, dazzled from different angles in the city and still enthroned over the city as a reminder of the beauty and glory of ancient Athens.
    Then, you’ll drive to Olympieion, the Roman Temple of Olympian Zeus and Panathinaiko Stadium. In this birthplace of a worldwide tradition, the first modern Olympic Games took place in 1896.
    You’ll also visit the tomb of the unknown soldier in front of the parliament building at Syntagma Square, Panepistimiou Boulevard along the Catholic Cathedral, the Academy of Athens, the University, and the National Library.
    You will have time to enjoy a cold frappe (favorite cold coffee drink for the greeks) or tast a greek “Tiropita” (homemade cheese pie)at the lively area of ​​Plaka with the view of Acropolis and then return to the hotel, where you’ll have the rest of the afternoon and evening free.

Your guide will meet the group at the hotel and pick you up for the mountains of Greece. The first stop, Arachova, a town built into the side of a mountain, and a ski resort during the winter months.
    The village has the nickname “Mykonos of the Winter”. Then the next stop, Delphi. Known as the navel of the world by the ancient Greeks, Delphi is a UNESCO-listed monument, and a once sacred space with excavated ruins of a temple complex.
    According to Greek mythology, Zeus left two eagles to fly, one to the East and one to the West, and they met in Delphi, making it the center of the world. Visit the ruins and the nearby archaeology museum, and learn about the importance of these ruins in ancient Greek times. After lunch, you’ll continue to Meteora, approximately 3 hours from Delphi. You will check in to your hotel and have a relaxing time from today’s journey.

    Six monasteries are perched on top of these rock towers, built during the 14th century. After making the journey, with stops to eat and use the restroom, you’ll visit one of the monasteries. Then, you’ll return to your hotel in Meteora. Spend the evening enjoying local cuisine and the view from your room.

On the way, you’ll pass through a wine region, where you’ll stop for a wine tasting. Corinth is a city that blends ancient with modern, and is considered the gateway to the Peloponnese peninsula. Just south of modern day Corinth sits ancient Corinth. After wine tasting, you’ll visit the site of Ancient Corinth. Corinth was one of the most powerful cities in the Greek empire as it controlled two ports, and it was taken over by the Romans in 146 BC. St. Paul preached in Corinth, leading him to write some of the most quoted books of the new testament: First and Second Corinthians. After exploring the archaeological site, you’ll return to modern-day Corinth, where you’ll have dinner and check in to your hotel.

Today, you can see it’s huge theater, the Sanctuary of Asklepios, and even the underwater sunken city (which was actually not a city, but a bathhouse). After exploring Epidavros, you’ll get back in the van and head to Nafplio. A coastal town on the Peloponnese peninsula, Nafplio offers stunning sunset views of its harbor over the water. It offers an archeological museum, a rocky beach with turquoise water, and a picturesque old town. You’ll get to explore the town and get a bite to eat before heading back to spend the night in Corinth.

    Then, you’ll visit wineries, observe the production process and even taste some wine. Once you’re all wined out, you’ll head back to Athens for dinner and to relax at your hotel.

Hydra, or Ydra or Idra is one of the Saronic Islands of Greece, located in the Aegean Sea between the Myrtoan Sea and the Argolic Gulf.
    It is separated from the Peloponnese by a narrow strip of water. In ancient times, the island was known as Hydrea, a reference to the natural springs on the island. On Hydra island, you won’t see any cars! Scooters, cars, and mopeds are banned on the island and residents only walk, roll, or use boats or donkeys to move around. You’ll tour the island by boat. Beautiful beaches, harbors, and stone architecture make Hydra a dream destination for many.
    After spending the day on this beautiful island, you’ll return to your hotel in Athens to rest.

    Important Information

    • This tour has a maximum capacity of 10 people, with a total of 4 wheelchair users.
    • A 30 % deposit is required to secure your spot on the tour($200 usd is non - refundable).The remaining 70 % must be paid 30 days before the trip start date.
    • Group tours will be accepting new travelers until 45 days prior to the start date.
    • This tour must have a minimum of 8 participants to take place at the listed price. If the minimum is not reached, the tour still may be able to occur at a higher price.
    • Entrance fee at archeological sites is free for people with disabilities and their companion (max 1). Disability card is required at the entrance. Seniors above 64 years old will get discount for entrance fees. ID card required. If you travel with more than 1 companion, a ticket can be purchase upon arrival.
    • Rates offered are considered based on a double room occupancy. For single occupancy an extra fee will be required, reach out to our travel expert for details
    • Once your request to book is submited, a travel expert will reach out and assist you with the payment process, gathering any special needs or dietary restrictions and answer any possible questions you might have. We will be able to confirm the trip once the minimum number of spots are filled.
    • Spots will be reserved on and a first come, first serve basis.
    • Based on availability, the hotel may be replaced for another alternative in the same category.
    • The order of the itinerary may change if necessary.

    Cancellation Policies

    • If you cancel up to 60 days before your check-in day, you will receive a full refund minus the non-refundable $200 usd.
    • If you cancel between 59 and 30 days before your check - in day, 25 % of the total cost of your booking will be due.
    • If you cancel between 29 and 15 days before your check-in day, 60% of the total cost of your booking will be due.
    • If you cancel less than 14 days before your check - in day, the total cost of your booking will be due.
    • If a trip or activity cannot take place due to extraordinary circumstances (bad weather, social movements, etc), a full refund cannot be guaranteed. Rest assured, the Wheel the World team will do their best to offer the best arrangements possible.
