In the heart of Gold Rush Country, the South Fork American River is the most popular river in California, with its perfect blend of thrilling rapids, beautiful scenery, and rich human and natural history.
The trip will begin with an opening circle, giving the guides an opportunity to meet the group and orient you to the plan for the day.
Next, the guides will instruct the group on paddling and safety, and accommodate any special needs before getting on the water.
This day of rafting will include approximately 12 miles on the Lower Gorge Section of the South Fork American River. This stretch starts with mellower Class II whitewater and then builds to exciting Class III whitewater in the afternoon for fun waves and rapids.

Yes, you can count on our assistants and trained guides to assist you during your trip and help you with the logistics.
– If I travel with friends and family members, how fit do they have to be?
This activity has a medium difficulty rating. Participants must be moderately fit, in good physical conditions.
– Do you have any tips?
Please note, that even though is a great experience, you must be prepared to participate in physically strenuous activities that may require physical ability beyond what many people are accustomed to in their day-to-day lives.
We advise to wear shorts and/or bathing suit, t-shirt, baseball cap, sunglasses with a retention strap, shoes that can get wet, and a change of clothes for after the trip.
Also bring sunscreen, lip balm with sun protection, and a water bottle with a secure lid.

The Camp is marked by two tall telephone poles with a gate in between and a large blue sign that reads “Environmental Traveling Companions” (the street address can’t be seen from the road). If you pass River’s Bend Camp, you have gone too far.
