For a better experience, even though the experience starts on Saturday at 10 am. It is recommended you arrive on Friday, so you can enjoy a relaxed morning at the campsite.

The trip will begin with an opening circle at 10:00, giving the guides an opportunity to meet the group and orient you to the plan for the day. Next, the guides will instruct the group on paddling and safety, and accommodate any special needs before getting on the water. This day of rafting will include approximately 12 miles on the Lower Gorge section of the South Fork American River. It will start with mellower Class II whitewater and then builds to exciting Class III whitewater in the afternoon for fun waves and rapids. The experience will come to an end around 17:00 when you will head back to camp to enjoy a meal and spend the night.

After breakfast, you will head to the Chili Bar section of the South Fork, a 30-minute drive from the camp. Once arrived, the guides will give you a short safety training review, after which you will get onto the water. This stretch of the river is filled with exciting Class III rapids like the Racehorse Bend and the First Threat. Lunch will be served at a riverside location and you will finish the day with calmer whitewater as you raft back to the river camp. After that, around 15:00, it will be the end of this rafting trip and time to say goodbye to the group.

– Please note, that even though is a great experience, you must be prepared to participate in physically strenuous activities that may require physical ability beyond what many people are accustomed to in their day-to-day lives.
We advise to wear shorts and/or bathing suit, t-shirt, baseball cap, sunglasses with a retention strap, shoes that can get wet, and a change of clothes for after the trip.
Also bring sunscreen, lip balm with sun protection, and a water bottle with a secure lid.
