On this accessible guided tour, you will discover the life and works of one of Barcelona’s most iconic and enigmatic figures, the architect Antoni Gaudi.

You will meet your knowledgeable guide on Plaza Tetuan square, by the statue of Dr Robert. Your guide will talk to you briefly about Gaudi and his influence on the city, and then will take you to Casa Calvet, a building designed by Gaudi for a local textile manufacturer, which is located a 10-minute walk away. Once here, you will have a rest and a moment to admire the facade of the building. The next stop on the tour will be Paseo de Gracia avenue, one of Barcelona’s most famous shopping and business areas. After another 10-minute walk, you will arrive at Casa Lleo Morera, a building designed by the modernist architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner and situated on the Paseo de Gracia. You will have some time to look at the exterior of the building and that of the Casa Amatller building, which is located just a few meters away. Casa Amatller was designed by Josep Puig i Cadafalch and, along with Casa Lleo Morera, counts as one of the three most significant buildings of the Illa de la Discordia district, which is noted for its modernist architecture.

From Casa Amatller, you will then head to Gaudi’s La Pedrera, situated a 15-minute walk away. The name La Pedrera literally means ‘stone quarry’, so called because of the rough stone exterior of the building. It was the last private residence designed by Gaudi and was built between 1906 and 1912 for the Mila family. You will have time to discover the exhibitions of La Pedrera, which detail the life of Gaudi and the sources of inspiration for his works. There is also a recreation of a typical apartment for a bourgeois Barcelona family from the early part of the 20th century and an intricately designed courtyard with flowers. Finally, you will visit the rooftop, which is decorated with chimneys and skylights and which offers a view over the city.

Once you have had time to explore La Pedrera, your guide will take you to the Rambla de Catalunya, one of Barcelona’s most trendy and popular streets which is lined with shops and restaurants. You will walk down the tree-lined street to Plaza Catalunya square, considered to be the center of the city. Your tour will end here, and you can either head home or carry on exploring the city.

Your guide will be available throughout the tour to answer your questions and to give you assistance, if necessary. All guides have experience of working with people with physical, visual and cognitive impairments. The walks between stops of the tour are on smooth cobblestone floors and you can request a rest stop along the way. The La Pedrera building is accessible for people with disabilities and service dogs are allowed inside. There are elevators and accessible bathrooms and visitors can also request free audio guides, as well as wheelchair storage space.
