Fattoria Poggio Alloro is a winery that specializes in making Chianti classics accessible to everyone. From its fully accessible vineyards to its cellars and wine tasting, you’ll be able to get a taste of what it’s like to make wine without all the hard work.

You will have the option to meet your guide at the vineyard, or accessible transportation can be arranged for an extra cost. Once you’ve arrived at Fattoria Poggio Alloro Winery, you’ll start with a stroll through the vineyard with or without the use of a Lomo-360 attachment. As you peruse the vineyard’s grounds, make sure to stop by the olive trees and the garden to see, first hand, what makes up the terroir in each glass.

After exploring the vines, you’ll make your way to the main house the learn about each stage of winemaking. You’ll head down to the cellar, where you’ll see wooden casks, wine tanks and receive a presentation on fermentation and how wine gets its oaky flavor. You’ll also make your way through the winery’s barn, where you’ll meet the winery’s Chianina cows, get to know the farm’s story, and learn about the winery’s organic products that range from wine to extra virgin olive oil to pasta to saffron.

Finally, you’ll taste the wine. Over the next 1 hour and a half, you’ll sit back and enjoy panoramic views of the winery’s rolling hills as you taste regional cheese and wine made onsite. You’ll taste 5 different wines, some made from Vernaccia grapes and others in a rose style. These wines and their robust set of flavors are complemented by 2 types of pecorino cheese, olives, bread, house-made extra virgin olive oil, prosciutto, and salami that you’ll enjoy before making your way back from a day in Chianti.
