Guests will be picked up at their hotels and board a Ssangyong Stavic van to be taken to the starting point of the trek. The van is not wheelchair accessible, but assistance will be provided for transfers. On the hike, guests will have the choice of using a Joelette one-wheel all-terrain wheelchair or a grit wheelchair for the trek. Visitors will follow the main roads along the beautiful emerald Lake Llanquihue and reach 600 meters or 1970 feet of elevation on the base of the Osorno Volcano before starting the hike.
The 12 kilometer or 7.4-mile hike takes you up to scenic viewpoints where you will soak up stunning views of the snow-capped Tronador and Puntiagudo volcanoes and the surrounding Cordillera of the Andes.
This hike is a part of the “Desolation Path,” which references the low-lying lichens and shrubs that thrive in Chile’s dry weather and allow guests to have 360-degree panoramic views for most of the trek. Be sure to bring along a camera to capture the once-in-a-lifetime views from the summit. After the hike, guests will be taken back to their hotel.
