Health

No vaccinations are officially required when entering Cambodia. However, travellers are highly encouraged to get protected against malaria, tetanus, rabies, typhoid, hepatitis A and hepatitis B. Visitors should also brought their essential medications as they might not be available to purchase in Cambodia. Public health facilities are not very well equipped. Many treatments and procedures are not available. Getting a good travel insurance is recommended.
The area has been classed as having a risk of Zika virus transmission, and there have been cases of Dengue fever. Travelers should avoid mosquito bites by using insect repellent against mosquitoes.
Travelers should remember to drink plenty of bottled water, not to drink tap water, and avoid long period of sun exposure.

Security

After years of insecurity, Cambodia has gradually returned to stability, since 1998. Even though most visits to Cambodia are free of trouble, travelers should remain vigilant at all times. Pickpockets and bag snatching cases are frequent, especially in touristy areas. In general, travellers are recommended to use a hotel safe for their valuables, not to carry a lot of items with them, and if going out with a bag, make sure sure the strap is over their shoulder and away from the road.

Cambodia has a tropical climate with year-round hot temperatures. The yearly average temperature is indeed around 28 degrees. The country has 2 distinct seasons: the rainy season from April to October, and the dry season, from November to March.

Electricity in Cambodia is 230V/50Hz. Most sockets can accommodate plugs with 2 flat pins.

Language

The official language of Vietnam is Vietnamese. English is widely spoken and understood in the hospitality industry, while French is popular amongst the locals.

Documentation

Travellers entering Cambodia must hold a valid passport with a minimum validity of 6 months. Depending on the passport they hold, they will also require a visa or e-visa. Tourist visas can be obtained on arrival at Phnom Penh or Siem Reap international airports, with a passport photograph.
